Christmas time is here again!
Shopping for Christmas presents can be hard, especially living in a world where there are hundreds of different hobbies that make our loved ones happy. Most of us probably don’t go out to a mall thinking that whatever we buy is going to sit in storage. And hopefully it doesn’t. That’s the thing with the consumerist side of Christmas– it’s a beautiful thing to gift someone with something that they really need and enjoy. You have to know someone really well to get them that perfect gift!
If you have a yogi on your list, this can also be a bit challenging. Do they already have a mat that they love? What about yoga clothes? Can you own too many yoga clothes? Here are a few gift ideas that I think any yogi would enjoy. Writing this post actually makes me want to go out and purchase all of them for myself. Or, maybe you want to buy them for yourself, because, you know, you’re so worth it too, right? 😉
1. Meditation Pillow from CE Love– I met Elizabethe at a Yoga Palooza event in downtown Toronto. She makes these pillows as a celebration for the life of her sister who recently passed from a medical condition. Profits from each pillow sold go to the purchase of heart defibrillators for people in need. I really like the shape of these ones, and they have just enough cushion to rest your lovely cheeks 🙂 . These retail for $59.88 CAD
2. Toe Sox— Slipping is common when jumping, landing, and holding onto the feet while doing back bends and shoulder openers. Lots of grip on these guys will ensure that your yogi won’t slide even when practicing the hardest of asanas. They retail for $15.00 USD
3. Infinity Strap— Although I only have a regular yoga strap I’ve heard great things about this one. This strap has no buckles and needs no adjustments, sounds super easy! Straps can be used for yogis learning to grip their hands to their toes in back bends, practicing arm balances, getting length in forward bends and even helping to keep the arms parallel when practicing difficult inversions. This strap can be used for yogis of all levels. These retail for $19.99 USD
4. eKO Manduka Travel Mat— If your yogi likes to travel then having a mat that will fit into their suitcase or backpack is a nice added luxury for any type of trip that they go on. And Manduka really knows their stuff. This mat is super grippy and very easy to pack. It’s also made of biodegradable rubber– I’m sold! This mat retails for $40.00 USD
5. Leg Warmers— When it gets chilly out but we still like to practice in crops and shorts (or when its freezing!) we need something extra to keep our legs warm. And these guys are actually quite stylish. You can get these pretty much anywhere. The Toe Sox leg warmers retail for $27.99 USD
6. Glass Water Bottle— Because we all need a little extra hydration, even during the dry, colder months. Glass water bottles are easier to clean and can be used with lemon and other kinds of fruit or flavours of your taste. I love my Lululemon water bottle. These retail for $28.00 CAD
7. Cork Yoga Blocks— I have cork blocks at home and I really love them. They help me lift up into harder poses and they can also help a beginner get length when doing twists and one legged balancing postures. Cork blocks are great because they are much more sturdy than foam and help to stabilize your yogi while they’re in their favourite asana. These Gaiam blocks retail for $14.98 USD
8. Candles— I’m always searching for eco-friendly, non-chemically scented candles for my practice. Unfortunately these are hard to find through retail– most scents are chemically processed and the wax isn’t the greatest to burn in your home either. Luckily there are alternatives, although they will be harder to find. These Capri Blue beauties retail for $20-40 CAD.
There you have it. I’m hoping that I can be spoiled with some of these for Christmas. Good luck with your shopping!
Stay Present,
